Thesis - JUST MAKE IT PINK
is a collection of real-life experiences shaped by the flaws in design that defaulted to male(cis-gendered) users, hence, leaving a gap for those
outside of the demographic.
From home to work, JUST MAKE IT PINK illustrates the challenges that women face when male-centric design is the default when it comes to everyday living. From doing simple at-home tasks to professional setting, these flaws exist in multiple areas and are often overlooked.
This work is meant to bring forth the issue of the “Invisible Women” – based on a book written by Caroline Criado-Perez and lived experience - and its inconvenience and harmfulness to users outside of the “default.” By highlighting designs that continuously ignore women as users, I hope to provoke reflections upon this not-so-obvious issue.
